Rehoming Options
The main focus of a rescue is to help animals that are in immediate need. For example, animals that have been dumped, are at risk of being put down or animals in very unsafe situations. Since the need for these types of rescues is large in our community, we are often at full or even over-capacity.
As of 7/2/2023, Vegas Friends of Guinea Pig Rescue does not take owner surrenders. We have been over capacity for months with abandoned and neglected guinea pigs. If you need to re-home your guinea pig(s), please see the tips below.

PS: Not having enough time for your guinea pigs does not constitute neglect. If I take them into the rescue, they will not get nearly as much attention as I have so many at my house, it is impossible to spend time with all of them. Guinea pigs are the happiest when they have food and a clean environment, it is not a requirement for them to always get snuggles and lap time. To me, that is not a good reason to give up your loved one. So please do not e-mail me and say your guinea pigs are being neglected because you do not have time for them.
Post your available guinea pig(s) on social media
Post you available guinea pig(s) on social media. There are some guinea pig and re-homing groups. Always charge a rehoming fee to help ensure they are going to a loving, serious home. There are also sites such as GuineaPigFinder.com that you can post your loved ones.
You can surrender your guinea pig at a local shelter
The NSPCA is a no-kill shelter. There is an owner surrender form on their website. The other shelters are The Animal Foundation and Henderson Animal Control (for Henderson residents). Please get on the waiting list for The Animal Foundation ASAP for an owner surrender. This can be done on their website.
Other Shelters/Rescues
The Animal Foundation is the main shelter in Las Vegas. Please know that they ARE a kill shelter. Henderson Animal Control can be used only if you live in Henderson. Vegas Friends is the only rescue that is exclusive to guinea pigs, but there are a few other rescues that have very limited space for guinea pigs. - A Home 4 Spot - Pawsitive Difference
