Adoptable Pets
More pictures on any of the adoptable pets can be sent by request, or check out my Facebook or Instagram as I post regularly!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application on our “Forms” page and then e-mail us at [email protected]!
**Please note that Vegas Friends of Guinea Pig Rescue has the right to deny any application for adoption. Please be aware that we work very closely with other rescues in town, as well as from neighboring states and there IS a Do Not Adopt List. If you are on that list, your application will be denied.
** My priority is the happiness of the Guinea pigs in my care. The adoption process has been created to help reduce guinea pigs going to poor homes or being returned. Very question on the application and every step of the adoption process is geared towards these sweet souls having the best FOREVER home. If you feel that the adoption process is too much for an animal such as a guinea pig, a guinea pig is likely not the pet for you.
If you are ready to give a once neglected/abused pet a forever home and to bring them into your family, please keep reading. You are what these guinea pigs are wanting and looking for. Love, stability, safety.
Adoption Process:
- If you are a new or moderate experienced guinea pig owner, please watch the video on the Resource page “10 Steps to Take Before Getting a Guinea Pig”
- Please read the Adoption Contract at the end of this page. Please make sure that you can make all of these promises to your new family member before committing to the adoption.
- Fill out adoption application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/VFGP/Small%20mammal
- Send pictures of your current enclosure for your new family member to [email protected]. Enclosures must be a minimum of 24’x47′ for two guinea pigs, larger is preferred. You can look at the “Resources” Page for tips on the right enclosure.
- Schedule a meet and greet! Please make sure to bring a carrier (no boxes) if you plan on taking your new family member(s) home!
- The adoption paperwork and checkout is all digital. Either prior to your meet and greet, of during the meet and greet (whichever you prefer) a link will be sent to your phone. The link will enable you to view and sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. You will then be sent a copy of the receipt and contract, any medical information, a care guide, list of local vets, veggie list and several local resources for your new family member.
Adoption Fees
- Single Guinea Pig $40
- Two Bonded Guinea Pigs $70
- Hamsters $25
- Rabbit $80
Adoption Agreement
Vegas Friends of Guinea Pig Rescue
Hello potential family member! Before you complete the adoption process, can you please look at the following requests that I have? I am small, but do require some special consideration. In return I will love you (even if I do not show it) eat all my vegetables and shower you with poop!
- Will you agree to care for me/us with our best interests at heart? Will you spot clean our enclosure so that we do not have to sit in wetness and our lungs stay nice and healthy?
- Will you feed us a cup of veggies daily? That is usually the highlight of our day and we really look forward to that. Which is why we make so much noise when it starts to be that time of day, we are really excited!
- Will you promise to care for us even when times are rough and you are tired and may not feel like it? We still love you and want you to love us, even when it is hard. We are asking you to make a commitment to us.
- Will you please care for us if your schedule changes at work, if you get other pets or new family members? We are your family members too and we want to stay with you!
- Will you please spend time with us, not a lot, maybe 15 minutes a day. It may seem like we do not like it, but in time we will and we will learn your smell and your sounds and we will feel safe with you.
- Finally, will you PLEASE promise NEVER to let us go in the wild (yes, it happens), abandon us, drop us off at the shelter (we really don’t like it there) or give us to someone you don’t know? The rescue lady said that we can ALWAYS come back to her. The only question she will ever ask is if she can help you to keep us in any way, otherwise she will always keep us safe.
Thank you for taking the time to read our requests. We likely came from a bad situation and don’t want to end up in another one. We just want love and safety. If you are able to accommodate our requests, please keep reading for the “legal” stuff that the rescue lady says she has to put in.
